The story behind Mine Garage

Mine Garage started as an app for one car: mine. I am Daniel Santana, and I build it at Dansp Lab, the studio I founded. It still answers the question it began with: where did the money go, and what needs doing next?

Why I built it

I was a driver long before I wrote my first line of code, and I wanted one place that held everything about my car: every service, every fill-up, every expense, every document. I tried the apps that already existed. Each one covered a part of it, never the whole thing, so I kept falling back on notes and spreadsheets.

So I built Mine Garage for myself, in the evenings and on weekends, and I held it to the same engineering standards as the work I do for a living. Your records are yours, they are kept safe, and they are still there years later, when the car changes hands and its history is what proves how it was looked after.

Who is behind it

Daniel Santana
CEO and founder of Dansp Lab

I am a mobile developer with more than 12 years of experience and over 18 apps shipped. I founded Dansp Lab, the studio behind Mine Garage, and I still write the code, read the e-mails and decide what gets built next.

What guides the app

A fair price

Keeping track of your own maintenance should not cost more than the service you are recording. What most drivers need is free, and Premium is priced for someone paying for their own car.

Records you can trust

Every entry is written to last: backed up, exportable whenever you want, and still readable years from now. I put my own car in this app first, so security was never a feature to add later.

Always one more thing

The app keeps growing because I still use it every day and keep finding things it should do. The trip log, OBD2 diagnostics, CarPlay, document reminders and cost per kilometre all started as something I needed myself.

Where this is going

I want Mine Garage to become the reference for vehicle maintenance, at a price anyone can pay, whether the car in the garage is a Porsche or an old Beetle. Both deserve to have their history kept properly.

Questions or ideas

I read everything that arrives. If something is missing, broken or could work better, write to me and it goes on the list.
